How come no one ever steps in and help during a genocide. The Armenian genocide, Rwandan, Ukrainian "genocide", and there was some help in the holocaust. in the Rwandan genocide, when the hutus were being slaughtered, the U.N. came but just stood there and did not fire one bullet. And the countries who perform the genocide arent severely punished or not punished at all like the Turks after the armenian genocide.
I agree with you on that. I'd do something if millions were being killed but for some reason, the people in charge do nothing. But with the Armenian genocide and the Holocaust, no help could arrive because it was taking place in enemy territory. By the way, the Hutus killed the Tusis, you just had it flipped but I get your point.
ReplyDeleteI think someone made the comment in class that countries don't want to get involved unless there is some kind of benefit in it for them. I agree that someone should step in and help I think it's extremely selfish and wrong to not do so, but that's just how it is. Stepping in with a genocide would start problems with the country carrying out the genocide, and no one really wants to start a war or create more problems. So it would be in their best interests to just stay out of it. People are so awful.
ReplyDeleteI think that countries should be punished more for it though. Once someone steps in to stop the genocide, then it is officially recognized that there is a problem and that country is doing something wrong. So they should be punished for it. The problem is though, how would they be punished? How severe should the punishment be? And who would carry out the punishment?
I agree, its crazy that other countries don't want to get involved, how can they stand such injustice?uncool.
